Bathroom Tiles and Trends in 2021

Bathroom tiles can make or break a renovation.

With so many choices in colour, texture and shape, it can be difficult to know which bathroom tiles to choose in the final design. At Flat Hill, we specialise in Brisbane bathroom renovations and are experts in bathroom design; therefore, we love nothing more than helping our clients through the design process, including choosing tiles, fixtures and fittings.

Below, we’re sharing some of our favourite bathroom tile trends for 2021 to help you with your bathroom design plans.

Graphic Bathroom Tiles

Graphic Patterns

Graphic tiles are a relatively recent trend in the world of bathroom tiles, and they aren’t going anywhere in 2021. Feature tiles in beautiful geometric patterns add a special wow factor to your bathroom that cannot be achieved by plain tiles. Patterned tiles come in a range of different colours and types of patterns from bright to pastel blues and pinks, to beige, white, navy, grey and even black.

The team at Flat Hill can help you source your choice of tiles from far and wide to ensure you achieve your dream graphic bathroom tile pattern.

Shaped Bathroom Tiles

Shaped Tiles

Different shaped tiles are another trend following into 2021, including penny round tiles, hexagonal tiles, fan tiles and more. These tiles are a great option if you don’t want to play around too much with colour and patterned tiles, but still want to make a statement in your bathroom space. One of our favourite shapes to use in our bathroom renovations is the hexagonal tile or small marble penny round tiles to create a shimmery, light bathroom space.

Subway Bathroom Tiles

Subway Tiles

Often used for a splash back in kitchens, subway tiles are making their way into bathrooms in 2021. In particular the traditional rectangular subway tile we’re used to will emerge in different shapes that make for a striking pattern when placed on the wall, especially when complimented by a darker grout colour. Therefore, for your 2021 bathroom renovation, keep a lookout for these traditional tiles with a unique spin.

Marble Bathroom Tiles

Marble Tiles

Another tried and true tile option, marble tiles are going to be trending once again in 2021. This timeless tile pattern oozes classic luxury and is difficult to go past in a bathroom design; simply because it suits almost any theme. However, marble has made some progressions over the years, with designers making bold moves away from the popular grey and white veined options and instead choosing blush pinks and peaches, greens and creams.

At Flat Hill, our resident designer can help you choose a marble tile that will perfectly suit your bathroom design.

Wooden Bathroom Tiles

Wood Imitation

A common debacle, wood has never been considered as a possibility in a bathroom space, purely because it isn’t water resistant. However, with advancements in design technology, some companies have produced a porcelain tile that looks exactly like wood, giving homeowners the ability to finally bring wood into their bathroom (or at least the appearance of it). These tiles are expected to be a hit in 2021 because we are seeing moves towards bringing outdoor elements inside in bathroom design.

Pastel Bathroom Tiles

Pastels

Finally, another popular tile trend we’re seeing moving into 2021 is pastel tiles. Pastel tiles come in a range of different shapes and shades, with some of our favourites being pastel pink, sea-foam green and powder blue. These tiles can add a simple, yet playful pop of colour to any space, making the bathroom a feature space in your home. It can be scary working with colour, but never fear, our team at Flat Hill will help you design a space that uses colour tastefully.
